All year round, Miami is renowned for its great energy, world-class events and buzzing nightlife – but during Art Basel, the city’s cultural credentials hit a dazzling peak.
Needless to say, with Artesano's distribution based out of Miami, we greatly look forward to joining the festivities every year.
Locals complain about the traffic, but it's a small price to pay for a gathering of the globe's finest galleries, where a diverse and impressive range of art is showcased to the public.
As the world’s most creative crowd descends on the city, Miami rises to the occasion with endless exhibitions and parties. Visitors spend their afternoons appreciating art, their evenings event-hopping and their mornings recovering by the beach.
So what are our top tips for Art Basel Miami?
Well, first and foremost, visiting the official Art Basel exhibition space at the Miami Beach Convention Centre is an absolute must-do. The Untitled art show, also in Miami Beach, is always brilliant as well.
This year, our team was based at Soho Beach House, where we held a trunk show in the club’s charming Cowshed Spa. The House is always one of the main social hubs during Art Basel and we really enjoyed sharing our collection with stylish locals and visitors from all around the world.
Another highlight for us this year was a Friday evening spent in the Wynwood Arts District – a neighbourhood fast-becoming famous for its commissioned street art, down-to-earth restaurants and vibrant music scene. Wynwood really lights up during Art Basel and we love its energy, street food and impromptu music and dance performances.
The Faena is always a pleasure for those who appreciate art and design – so it’s no surprise that this beautiful hotel is one of the places to be during Art Basel. With no shortage of art installations and parties, we were particularly impressed by the beachfront dome, its comfy lounges and immersive ceiling audiovisuals.
