OUR STORY

Artesano was co-founded in 2014 by Miami-based business partners Claudia Estrada and Xavier Blum, both originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Rooted in a deep appreciation for their homeland’s rich heritage of craftsmanship, the brand was created to celebrate artisanal techniques through thoughtfully handcrafted pieces.

The name Artesano, meaning “handcrafted,” reflects the heart of the brand and its commitment to traditional artistry. Each piece is made by hand using consciously sourced, eco-friendly materials, with an emphasis on responsible production and timeless design.

From ethically sourced felted wool to natural fibers woven by skilled artisans, Artesano is dedicated to creating products with care — honoring craftsmanship, supporting artisan communities, and producing in a way that respects both people and the planet.

TOQUILLA STRAW

Our signature straw, handwoven from fibers of the Carludovica Palmata plant native to Central and South America. Lightweight, breathable, and crafted using traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations.

PIÑATEX

A sustainable material made from pineapple leaf fibers, repurposed from existing agriculture. Durable and leather-like in texture, Piñatex offers an innovative alternative for select handbags and accessories.

TAGUA

Often referred to as “vegetable ivory,” Tagua is a natural seed from the Phytelephas palm. Each bead is hand-carved by artisans and used as an organic embellishment throughout our collections.

We work with artisans across coastal and mountainous regions of Ecuador, where weaving traditions have been passed down through generations. Many of our artisans work from their homes, allowing them to support their families while preserving a centuries-old craft rooted in heritage, community, and care.

At Artesano, we are proud to help sustain these traditions for generations to come.
